Udonis Haslem Claims Chris Bosh Was More Important Than LeBron James To Miami Heat's Big Three
The Miami Heat's most successful era came from 2010 to 2014 with the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, but who was the most valuable to the trio?
James was at the peak of his power, as many agreed he was the league's top player during these years. However, not all of his teammates viewed him as more important than another member of the trio.
Heat legend Udonis Haslem spent his entire career with the team, where he witnessed a multitude of Finals runs. From his perspective, Bosh was more important to the Heat's success than James.
"Everybody think that our most important player was Bron. Our most important player, not our best player, but our most important player was CB [Chris Bosh]. He was our most important player because if Bron went down, you could bring in D-Wade, and it’s not the same player, but you’re gonna get similar results," Haslem said on 'The OGs podcast'. "We couldn’t simulate it; we didn’t have another CB. If that (expletive) went down and got hurt, we didn’t have another one of those.”
The Heat appeared in four consecutive Finals, winning two titles in the four-year frame. Haslem's point stems from Bosh's play style being ahead of its time. He could consistently knock down three-pointers, which was viewed as rare for a player of his stature.
Although Haslem's argument has flaws, there's no doubt the Heat would have struggled without Bosh on the roster.
