Victor Wembanyama Shines In San Antonio Spurs' Preseason Win Against Miami Heat

In this story:
The Miami Heat got their first look at No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.
And they weren't disappointed.
The 7-foot-4 Wembanayama finished with 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, four rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots in 23 minutes. Many have called the rookie the league's best prospect since LeBron James in 2003. James is considered among the NBA's top players of all time.
“They do things the right way here,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said of the Spurs. “[Wembanaya is] an incredible generational talent.”
The Heat fell 120-104 on the road to the Spurs. The Heat were led by guard Jamal Cain, who finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. He mad 6 of 8 from the 3-point arc.
“He really competed and played hard,” Spoelstra said of Cain. “It’s gratifying to see him play like that. He put so much time in in the last year.”
Cain is considered among the Heat's latest developmental players. He played with them last year on a two-way contract after going undrafted out of Oakland University in 2022.
“I didn’t know I was going to be starting this game,” Cain said. “So I stayed ready and I stayed confident and the ball found me and I was able to make the shots.”
