Are Bam Adebayo And Jimmy Butler A Top Five Duo In The NBA?

In this story:

The Miami Heat’s All-Star duo of Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler is often overlooked due to a lack of individual success. However, the success of the team is what should rank them among the top five pairs in the NBA.

Bleacher Report recently ranked the NBA’s best superstar duos right now, leaving Butler and Adebayo off the list. The top five were as follows: Kevin Durant and Devin Booker; Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday; Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray; LeBron James and Anthony Davis; Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving.

The Heat’s duo was not even included as an honorable mention.

The top four pairings on the list are justified in their placement, but the Dallas Mavericks tandem of Irving and Dončić should not be above Butler and Adebayo.

In the last four seasons, the Heat have made two Finals and three Eastern Conference Finals appearances. While having a winning record against the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers in the postseason. Much of this success is thanks to Butler and Adebayo.

On the other hand, Irving and Dončić may be the more skilled duo but lack any proven success. They have only spent half a season together, missing the playoffs entirely. When healthy, the pair had a record of 5-11.

These rankings are not a projection for next season but rather based on the present. Making it completely illogical to rank a proven duo in the Heat behind an untested Mavericks pairing.
