Apparently, Damian Lillard can see himself taking a similar path as NBA superstar LeBron James.

After formally requesting a trade Saturday morning, Lillard liked a fan’s tweet that compared him to James. Lillard reportedly is hoping to join the Miami Heat.

In 2010, James famously made "The Decision" to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Heat. This formed the Big Three with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. Lillard being traded to Miami would result in a Big Three with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

James led the Heat went to four consecutive Finals, winning two championships before he decided to return to Cleveland. In 2016, James and the Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors to become the first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals. This brought the Cavs their first championship in franchise history.

Lillard, liking this post, has put a spotlight on two significant ideas. It further shows his strong desire to be traded to the Heat to compete for championships, following in James’ footsteps. The more unexpected of the two was Lillard’s interest in returning to the Trailblazers towards the end of his career.

The fan references James’ infamous "Cleveland, this is for you!" after winning the 2016 Finals by substituting Portland in its place. This highlights his potential desire to bring a championship home to the team he has been dedicated to throughout his career. Lillard has been the face of the Trailblazers his entire career and has shown incredible gratitude to the city and organization, making a reunion entirely plausible.
