Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade moved one step closer to earning one of the top honors in basketball.

On Friday, Wade named one of the finalist for the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame. He is set to become a first-ballot inductee.

Wade is generally considered the greatest player in Heat history. He is the franchise's all-time leading scorer, a 13th-time All-Star and a three-time NBA champion. In 2006, Wade led the Heat to their first championship and was named Finals MVP.

Finalists from the North American and Women’s committee for the Class of 2023 will be announced on Friday, February 17, at 5:30 p.m. ET in Salt Lake City, Utah, during NBA All-Star Weekend.

The entire Class of 2023, including those selected by the direct-elect committees, will be unveiled during the NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, April 1, in a nationally televised broadcast at 11 a.m.
