Former Miami Heat Coach Stan Van Gundy Weighs In On NBA's Load Management Issue

In this story:
Former Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy has never shied from voicing his opinion on NBA issues.
On Tuesday, he spoke on the league's load management debate. Several players have taken game off for rest purposes, often upsetting fans because they bought tickets to see their favorite stars.
"Healthy NBA players rarely sit out games, except on back-to-backs," Van Gundy wrote on Twitter. "Players are missing games due to legitimate injuries. The issue is that despite managing players’ workloads, practicing less etc. games missed due to injury is going up. When things aren’t working change is needed."
The league has tried to address the issue in season's past. NBA commissioner Adam Silver spoke on the matter during his All-Star game press conference.
“If it means at some point that we’re better off elongating the schedule to reduce back-to-backs, for example, that’s something that’s worth looking at,” Silver said. “If we thought it made sense to reduce the number of games, we would. But there’s no data right now.”
