Former Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent signed with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason but has received criticism in recent weeks for his performance in last year’s playoffs.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, an anonymous scout believed former All-Star guard Kyle Lowry was a better option.

“Vincent was interesting to me,” the scout told Mannix. “Because I thought there were a number of games last year where he was playing in the playoffs and I was like, 'Get his ass out and get Kyle Lowry in as soon as you can because he is not helping.'"

He outplayed Lowry in the postseason but was inconsistent. Vincent averaged 12.7 points and 3.5 assists on 40.2 percent shooting, while Lowry averaged 9.2 points on 42.5 percent shooting.

Vincent’s size and defensive prowess also provided him with an advantage over Lowry. Facing the likes of Jrue Holiday, Jamal Murray, and Jalen Brunson is a tall task for the 6-foot Lowry.

The varying playstyles of the two point guards played a key role in the Heat’s NBA Finals run.

In the regular season, Lowry averaged 11.2 points on 40.4 percent shooting to Vincent’s 9.4 points on 40.2 percent shooting.

Despite the negative remarks, the scout has faith in Vincent’s chance to succeed alongside LeBron James.

“But this year, I think with LeBron, it’ll be a little bit different," the scout said. "I think he will play well off LeBron, too.”
