Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns recently had some interesting words on Pat Beverley’s podcast.

“When my time is up and I retire, I feel like there will be people that say I changed the game,” Towns said to his former Timberwolves teammate. “When this is all over, there’s gonna be kids coming up saying that they’re playing a different way because I played in the NBA and did it a different way.”

Towns is still one of the top forward/centers

in the league as a three-time All-Star averaging a double-double in his career. However, many don’t believe he’ll make the impact he desires.

Among those was former Miami Heat guard Tim Hardaway Sr. He went on The Carton Show, saying Towns was behind Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), Brook Lopez (Milwaukee Bucks), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings) and Bam Adebayo.

“You don’t make your team better,” Hardaway said. “You don’t get to the postseason and win, you don’t make timely shots, you don’t make defensive plays.”

Hardaway doubled down, saying Towns needs to work on his game to make this type of impact.

“You need to win playoff games,” Hardaway said. “You have four wins in 12 games and zero series wins. He’s a really good NBA player but he doesn’t make anybody better. It’s all about him at times. He tries to go to the referee instead of playing team basketball. Sometimes, he’s out there and you don’t even see him. He needs to have a reality check and work on his game. In Minnesota, they talk too much. They need to shut up, go out there and play basketball.”
