Udonis Haslem Discusses Tyler Herro Amidst Damian Lillard Rumors

In this story:
The noise around Damian Lillard coming to the Miami Heat means guard Tyler Herro is likely gone.
Herro will likely be dealt to a third team for draft capital in exchange for Lillard. Longtime Heat forward Udonis Haslem weighed in on the situation with WQAM talk show host Brendan Tobin.
“I’m just sitting around watching like everyone else,” Haslem said. “Obviously, I have a relationship with Tyler [Herro], so I’ve been keeping in touch with him and checking on his mental.”
Herro has progressed every season since being drafted in 2019. His contributions helped Miami achieve success, especially in their journey to the 2020 Finals. Had he stayed healthy the last two postseasons, the Heat may have hosted the Larry O’Brien Trophy over the Denver Nuggets (2023) and Golden State Warriors (2022). Haslem says the young guard should take pride in his achievements.
“One thing we focus on is his time spent here,” Haslem said. “Whatever happens, he can walk away with his head up. Sixth Man of the Year, 2 NBA Finals, 3 Eastern conference finals. His 4 to 5 years here is equivalent or better than most people’s careers. He has nothing to be ashamed about, he’s handled his business. If the trade goes through, he’ll continue to build, grow, and get more money as a player.”
