During the 2019 offseason, a plethora of blockbuster trades and signings took place across the NBA.

One that has remained near the most impactful was Jimmy Butler’s sign-and-trade to join the Miami Heat.

The league was completely shaken up by the start of the 2020 season.

Butler was coming off a great season with the Philadelphia 76ers, which ended with a devastating Game 7 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Miami had missed the playoffs that season; however, the year following, made the Finals with a young core led by Butler.

The Los Angeles Clippers brought in the All-Star duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Leonard was acquired via signing, while George was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Due to numerous injuries, this pairing has proven unsuccessful in their championship aspirations.

Superstar Anthony Davis was coming off another great season for the New Orleans Pelicans but desired a championship. So in turn, the Los Angeles Lakers moved a bundle of assets, including Brandom Ingram and Lonzo Ball, to acquire the All-Star big man. This deal certainly worked out for Los Angeles, who defeated the Heat in the 2020 Finals.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were looking to team up for a large-market organization. The Brooklyn Nets did not hesitate at the opportunity, signing both players to four-year contracts. Due to locker room and injury issues, Irving and Durant now reside on other teams.

Former All-Star guards Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Kemba Walker, and D’Angelo Russell all joined new rosters.
