After the recent playoff runs by the Miami Heat, it’s hard to debate star Jimmy Butler’s positive impact.

But, believe it or not, there are still some who think otherwise.

A recent episode of the Run Your Race podcast went viral of Dallas Mavericks’ forward Markieff Morris speaking on Butler. He recalled hearing someone saying he wasn’t a good fit for every culture.

Morris, who played with Butler and the Heat in 2022, disagreed with the statement.

“I heard someone say he (Jimmy Butler) isn’t good for every culture. I don’t see how,” Morris said.

Morris’ teammate, Theo Pinson, went as far to say Butler would be a perfect fit for any team’s system, particularly a young one.

“He is a perfect plug and play wherever you want to go,” Pinson said. “You put him on a young team, ‘We ain’t doing that s–t. Listen, that’s not how we gonna operate.”

Butler’s time with the Heat was nothing short of spectacular. He led them to the playoffs four times and re-defined the Heat’s moral standards. Before Butler joined the Heat in 2019, he had minor stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers.

But they weren’t always pleasant.

When playing with the Timberwolves, reports went out of an intense practice where Butler demanded coach Tom Thibodeau to let him play with third stringers to prove how better he was than everyone.

Eventually, he was traded to the 76ers where he seemingly enjoyed playing with Joel Embiid. But when he got traded to the Heat, reports against Butler once again went out. These ones pointed to Ben Simmons’ mentality and unwillingness to play as a reason why Butler left.

Despite those speaking ill on Butler, Morris backs his ex-teammate up with full support.

“He’s a coach killer, he’s not,” Morris said. “Like, man listen, he comes to practice everyday, go home. Same s–t everyday. He don’t wanna start no trouble.”
