Miami Heat Are Reportedly Interested in Houston Rockets Guard Eric Gordon

With the NBA trade deadline ending tomorrow at 3 p.m., organizations are making their final pushes in acquiring or removing players to bolster their teams.

Hoopswire’s Sam Amico reported Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon has drawn interest from several teams, including the Miami Heat.

Gordon, a veteran for the Rockets, is in his 15th NBA season. He is averaging a career-low 13.2 points but is shooting 34.7 percent from 3-point range. Gordon passed Kobe Bryant on the NBA’s all-time list for made threes.

Gordon’s interest from other teams has declined, giving Miami a better shot at acquiring him. Houston has a young backcourt of Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green, and their league-worst 13 wins will give them a high-draft pick to build around their youthful team for the future. Gordon would be sent to a playoff contender in the Heat, potentially elevating the team in their quest for postseason success.

Miami has been quiet thus far during the trade window, much to the dislike of their fanbase. The inability to make a big move in the offseason regressed them behind other Eastern teams who improved their rosters. Even for his decline in scoring, Gordon would be a slight improvement over Kyle Lowry.

Lowry has once again underperformed for Miami this season, catching waves of criticism from Heat fans after nearly every game. His tendency to foul and inefficiency over the second half of the season has made him a target for trade rumors. The Heat have finally opened him to the trade market, which could potentially put him in an exchange for Gordon.
