Could Dion Waiters' NBA career be over?

Dion Waiters has not only behaved his way out of potentially never playing again for the Miami Heat but also another NBA team.
At least one former league executive feels Waiters will have an extremely difficult time working his way back into a lineup. ESPN analyst Bobby Marks, who used to hold a position in the Brooklyn Nets’ front-office, said Monday Waiters may have ran out of chances after his latest suspension with the Heat.
"Waiters' career is likely over, barring an incredibly unlikely turnaround,” Marks wrote in an ESPN Insider column.
Waiters is in the middle of serving a six-game suspension for a violation of team rules. He regains eligibility after Monday’s game against the Utah Jazz at AmericanAirlines Arena. Waiters has been suspended three times this season and has yet to play a game.
He has yet to comment on the situation other than a statement released Nov. 30 following his second suspension.
"I would like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, basketball staff, the fans and the entire organization for the incident that happened on the team plane. I was wrong and take responsibility for what happened and am sorry for what it put everyone through. I am happy to be back with my teammates and am looking forward to getting back on the court playing basketball."

Waiters has dealt with issues in Miami the past two seasons, mostly related to playing time. Last year he was benched the final three months after publicly complaining about minutes on multiple occasions. Problems began during this preseason when Waiters grew upset after learning he was replaced in the starting lineup by Kendrick Nunn, who has since become one of the league's top rookies. Last month Waiters was suspended after reportedly overdosing on edible "gummies" on the team's flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles.
The Heat have been unable to find any suitors for a Waiters trade because of his past and the salary figures. He is still due $24.8 million the next two years. According to Marks, one NBA executive told him, “The Waiters contract is as close to untradeable that I have ever seen in the NBA.”
