TOP PLAYER OF THE DAY:

The Kyrie Irving saga in Brooklyn has shaken up the NBA world, and the Nets are looking for production to replace the All-Star point guard.

Perhaps Cam Thomas can be that answer.

Thomas had another monster game since Irving has been out of the lineup. Days after setting a career-high in scoring, Thomas had another career performance by dropping 47 points against the Los Angeles Clippers. Thomas was 15 of 29 from the field while shooting 63.6 percent from 3-point range. Thomas became the second youngest player since LeBron James to have consecutive 40-point games.

“There's something to not playing, putting in the work and doing it when you don't get your results at your timing,” Nets coach Jacque Vaughn said. “Cam has really shown himself. He put in a lot of work and he's being rewarded for it. Maybe it wasn’t at the timing of others or even his timing. But now he’s taking advantage of it.”

OTHERS:

- Jayson Tatum had 34 points and 11 rebounds to help the Celtics blow past the Detroit Pistons.

- Mavericks guards Josh Green and Jaden Hardy both produced career-high scoring performances in the absence of Irving and Luka Doncic. Green and Hardy each scored 29 points, getting the Mavericks their first win this season without Doncic.

- Keegan Murray’s career-high 30-point performance led the Kings past the Houston Rockets. Murray’s eight 3-pointers set a rookie franchise record.

- Klay Thompson shined in the absence of Steph Curry with 42 points on 12 of 16 shooting from the arc.
