Phoenix Suns Listed Among Teams To Help Facilitate Damian Lillard Trade

The Phoenix Suns are being viewed as a dark horse to help the Miami Heat acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers

Around the NBA, a multitude of teams are expressing interest in helping facilitate a trade that would send Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat.

The Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Chicago Bulls have remained the favorites over the offseason, but the latest addition to the list is the Phoenix Suns. A writer for PHNX Sports, Gerald Bourguet, reported the news of Phoenix’s potential to facilitate the blockbuster trade.

“Philadelphia, Miami, and Portland, as well as the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls... are heating up,” Bourguet said. “Many of them view the Suns as a team that could push a potential blockbuster deal across the finish line.”

Heat guard Tyler Herro remains on the trade block, likely being moved to a third team due to Portland’s disinterest in him. Teams such as the Bulls and Raptors have the assets and reasoning to acquire Herro.

On the other hand, the Suns lack both assets and motivation to trade for the former Sixth Man of the Year. After trading for All-Star guard Bradley Beal this summer, Phoenix lacks cap space and depth. Acquiring Herro should not be on the Suns' agenda, instead, they should look to contend with their current core.

Regardless of how Lillard is traded to Miami, the organization and fans will just be happy the wait is over.
