Should We Revisit Conversations About Joel Embiid To The Miami Heat?

With superstar Damian Lillard out of the equation for the Miami Heat, fans and analysts are entertaining just about any scenario for star replacements.

So, we're going to re-open the conversations around Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid.Yes, it is extremely unlikely and will take a lot of negotiation. But at this point, the Heat need to upgrade by any means necessary.

The Heat were one of the frontrunners to acquire Embiid around the time when he was going through drama with the organization. His connection with Heat forward Jimmy Butler put Miami at the top of the list to land last season's MVP. Embiid could be a solid two-way option beside Butler, possibly giving the Heat the complementary player they need.

Yes, this scenario is extremely unlikely and will probably take even more negotiation than it did with Portland. Embiid’s playoff underperformances and injury history certainly don’t help the case either. But at this point, the Heat need to upgrade by any means necessary.

The journey back to the Finals was already difficult, but now it's even harder with Lillard's trade to the Milwaukee Bucks. Not only do the Heat miss out on a superstar to pair with Jimmy Butler, but they also have to overcome the conference rival they just eliminated. To keep up with their Eastern competition, they need some kind of addition to compete for a potential championship.

But knowing president Pat Riley and the Heat's shortcomings acquiring other superstars recently, maybe we should just lay these to rest.
