A former Utah Jazz second-round pick is finding a second shot at an NBA roster. After spending three seasons in Utah from 2019 to 2022, Miye Oni will sign a one-year deal to join the Orlando Magic, according to Jason Beede on X. Oni was the 58th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the same draft current Jazz G Talen Horton-Tucker was a part of.

Oni spent last season overseas in Europe playing in London with the British Basketball League. After some international success, he makes a return back to the States with a second chance to find some footing in the NBA. During his time with the Jazz, Oni played 50 games in which he averaged 1.8 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.5 assists.

It might be tough to establish an immediate place in the rotation on a Magic roster loaded with young talent. With a core of Anthony Black, Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, Markelle Fultz, and Gary Harris already in such a tight competition for minutes, the climb to the top of this depth chart will be a steep one for Oni.

However, with another one-year deal on the table still, the former Jazzman will have a nice opportunity to find a spot as a contributing depth piece that could allow for a career revival in the NBA.
