Utah Jazz Lottery Odds Finally Revealed

The Utah Jazz regular season ends in defeat to the Golden State Warriors.

The Utah Jazz have finally gotten closure on the NBA Lottery front. Utah will have the eighth-best lottery odds thanks to a 123-116 defeat to the Golden State Warriors. The loss was needed because the Brooklyn Nets fell to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in the day.

Utah was within striking distance to win, as they were only down two points with 1:39 left in the game, but Team Tank was not to be denied. Golden State outscored Utah 5-0 to seal the lottery fate of a franchise that's been on a mission to lose games since the February 8 trade deadline.

So, what does this mean moving forward? The Jazz will have a 6% chance of getting the No. 1 selection and a 26.2% of landing in the top four. The most likely scenario is to stay at eight at 34.1%. Also, there's a possibility that Utah regresses. There's a 32.1% shot they'll get the ninth pick and a 6.7% chance for number 10.

It appeared at the midpoint of the season the Jazz would convey their top-ten protected selection to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the trade deadline deals that saw three rotational pieces traded for future draft picks put Utah in a second-half funk that couldn't be reversed.

Now that Jazz fans have closure on the 2023-24 season, what will be the plan for next year? Does the Jazz continue a year of developing their youth and play for draft position in what's projected to be a stacked draft? The other option is to take the treasure chest of first-round picks and use them to build around Lauri Markkanen.

The answer to that question remains to be seen. We do know that either way, Jazz fans can anticipate major changes.
