Unlikely Hero Takes Down Jazz in Grizzlies’ 91-105 Sizeable Win

In this story:
In their third game without All-Star Lauri Markkanen, the Utah Jazz finally felt the absence in a 91-105 rout against the Memphis Grizzlies. After taking ahold of the season series 2-0, the Jazz finally fell in what takes them to a 6-12 record on the year.
With so many injuries on the Memphis roster, it took a few players to step up in their fourth victory of the season. Most notably, it was David Roddy showing out, scoring 19 points on the night, along with six rebounds on some solid efficiency (7/11 FG, 5/9 3PT). It surpasses his season-high of 17, and ties for second through his two-year career.
Th Grizzlies' usual suspects like Desmond Bane (17 pts, 7 reb, 9 ast) and Jaren Jackson Jr. (20 pts, 6 reb, 6 blk) got their own as well. Ultimately, it led to an all-around impressive offensive performance from the Grizzlies to effectively end their recent four-game skid.
It was a contest that got out of control early, with Utah falling into an 18-point hole by the end of the first half.
The @utahjazz were outscored by the @memgrizz 36-17 in the second quarter and trail 60-42 at the break.

John Collins led the way for Utah, scoring 17 points on the night, and shooting 50% from the field. Simone Fontecchio also put in some work outside, draining four threes en route to 12 points.
While the Jazz found some production from deep in tonight’s game, it was paired with some shaky effectiveness from inside, shooting 37.8% from the field. Without a reliable presence like Markkanen to match the Grizzlies’ offensive output, it led to some clear issues.
The Jazz will have to go without Lauri for at least one more, with the road trip continuing on Thursday in a back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It may be a steep hill to climb, as these early-season juggernauts have taken home a win in five of their last six.
