Report: Jazz Fully Guarantee G Kris Dunn for 2023-24 NBA Season

While it wasn’t anything to be unexpected, the Utah Jazz have seen enough from G Kris Dunn to merit a roster spot and guaranteed contract for the 2023-24 NBA season, per Tony Jones of The Athletic. Before Saturday, Dunn was standing on a partially guaranteed deal worth $2.5M that was inked last season.

Throughout his time in this year’s preseason, and even during the last quarter of last season, Dunn has proven he deserves a place in the NBA. Despite a turbulent start to his career as a top-five selection with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dunn has finally established a home in Salt Lake City where he can be a nightly impactful player for this franchise.

The Jazz and Dunn are now locked in for the 2023-24 year, with him set to hit unrestricted free agency next summer. If his late-career resurgence remains sustainable, it gives Dunn the perfect chance to play his way into a longer-term contract worth a bit more money come next offseason.

While the guard rotation for the Jazz this season is notably deep with routine minutes being hard to come by, Dunn’s recent consistent production will provide him with some time on the floor. Combining his shot efficiency and playmaking with stifling perimeter defense, he’s a versatile player that HC Will Hardy can utilize in a collection of lineups.

Dunn and the rest of the Jazz will finally take on their highly-anticipated season debut Wednesday, October 25th against the Sacramento Kings in the Delta Center.
