Leading into the 2023-24 NBA season, the Utah Jazz have been involved in countless trade ideas and proposals that would shake up the roster before officially rolling into the year. While the roster seems settled on the surface, any move is in the realm of possibility with Danny Ainge at the helm.

This time, Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley dropped a new trade idea involving the Jazz, dealing with the Charlotte Hornets to acquire G Terry Rozier by trading away G Collin Sexton and minor draft assets.

Utah Jazz Receive: Terry Rozier

Charlotte Hornets receive: Collin Sexton, two second-rounders

Buckley continued to give some of his reasoning for the proposal, noting the Jazz being potential buyers on the market if the right deal comes around:

"The Utah Jazz won't be the first team that comes to mind when thinking of buyers, but as their summer addition of John Collins showed, they'll make an opportunistic upgrade if the price is right...The 29-year-old could carry this club in spurts, but he knows how to coexist with more prominent players and not step on any toes. In other words, shifting him into more of a support role would be doable if young perimeter players such as [Keyonte] George and Ochai Agbaji are ready to soak up more of the spotlight."

Rozier is coming off his best career scoring average last season of 21.1 points, but shooting with relatively poor efficiency (41.5/32.7/80.9) on a bad Hornets team drops his value slightly. However, his previous playoff stints with the Boston Celtics have proven his ability to be effective in a complementary role on a competitive team.

For the Jazz, this deal could help add more stability to the guard position, with Sexton’s health and ability to return to peak form from his 2021 campaign remains in question. Rozier would add more needed NBA experience to Utah's roster with a similar scoring ability to Sexton’s.

If the opportunity were there for Danny Ainge to reunite with his former guard from his Boston days for a low price, this might be a deal in the cards for the Jazz. With most noise quiet on the NBA front at this point in the offseason though, fans may have to wait until after the season begins to see any motion on the trade market.

Still, with an active and ambitious front office in charge for Utah, expect this team to stay rumored or mentioned in even more trade talks as the offseason drags on.
