Projected First Round Forward Announces Pre-draft Workout With Jazz

In this story:
With less than two weeks until the NBA Draft arrives, we’ve seen the Utah Jazz do some extensive homework on the incoming prospects. We’ve seen a mix of the team bringing in some of the top guys in the class, all the way down to players that look like they may be undrafted free agents.
This time, it looks like the Jazz are bringing in Pepperdine’s Maxwell Lewis. According to a report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Utah is one of ten teams that have already brought, or are scheduled to bring in Lewis for a workout.
NBA Draft prospect Maxwell Lewis has upcoming workouts with the Jazz, Blazers and Kings. More on the projected first-rounder, including comparisons to Rudy Gay, Mikal Bridges and Jaden McDaniels, Lorenzo Romar’s impact, his scouting report, and goals.

Lewis is currently projected to go 20th in Bleacher Report’s latest mock draft, seeing an overall increase in draft stock since starting his pre-draft process. He has the ideal build and physical profile of an NBA wing with some shot-making ability, but also has some lingering concerns scouts will have to look into:
"Scouts have been trying to weigh Lewis' NBA physical profile, three-level shot-making, and enticing creation flashes versus Pepperdine's 9-22 record and the sophomore's inconsistent defense against lower-level competition. He should ultimately look enticing in a workout setting with the body of a wing and the shooting versatility to hit different types of jumpers from all over."

We’d probably see him targeted by the Jazz with their second, or more likely with their third first round pick if things go well. Given that Utah could utilize some wing depth and shooting, a selection of Lewis would be practical. However, the level of competition he’s seen at this point should be something to investigate.
In his second season at Pepperdine, Maxwell saw a big jump in his statistics, going from averaging an 11/3/1 stat line in his freshman year, up to about 17/6/3. This progression in such a short time is something teams will look into, potentially seeing if this improvement is sustainable at the next level.
The draft continues to get closer by the day, so there's only a matter of time before we see if this Jazz-Lewis workout eventually evolves into something more.
