Jazz Re-Sign Johnny Juzang for Next Season After Stellar Summer League

In this story:
Thanks to his impressive performances in Las Vegas just last week, Johnny Juzang has signed a two-way deal back with the Utah Jazz. It will be his second consecutive season with the Jazz after playing on his first two-way contract last season as a rookie.

Only having appeared in 18 regular season games last season, Jazz fans didn’t see extensive action from the former UCLA Bruin in his first-year pro. In his time, he averaged 4.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in just under 13 minutes played per game. However, by capitalizing on his opportunity this summer in Vegas, that opportunity could increase a bit for 2023-24.
This move now effectively fills out the roster at 18 total players for the Jazz, including three two-way contracts (the others being Joey Hauser and Micah Potter). With the NBA’s new amendment this offseason allowing teams to hold three two-ways on their roster at a time, it gives all three of these guys some added security headed into camps and preseason.
It might be difficult for Juzang to form an established role in the rotation right off the jump, but that’s precisely why the two-way got implemented. Instead of having promising young players rot on the end of a deep NBA bench, Johnny can show out in the G-League. He’ll likely have a starting and significant role for the Salt Lake Stars while continuing to hone his NBA skills.
Seeing how Juzang looks to make a name for himself in Utah next season will be another story for Jazz fans to follow with such a promising team.
