Jazz Sign Former Celtics Lottery Pick Romeo Langford to 1-Year Deal

In this story:
Despite carrying a full 18-man roster heading into the 2023-24 NBA season, the Utah Jazz have opted to bring in an extra body to compete for a spot on the team.
Romeo Langford, the 14th-overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft has agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Jazz, per Tony Jones of The Athletic. It’s a one-year minimum deal that can be converted to a two-way before the season starts,if necessary.

Langford is a former first round pick from the Boston Celtics
The Hoosier alum was selected by the Boston Celtics in 2019 and spent over two years with the franchise. At the NBA trade deadline in 2022, Langford was a part of the deal to net the Celtics G Derrick White from the San Antonio Spurs, ending his tenure with the team that drafted him.
Last season with San Antonio, the 23-year-old averaged 6.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in a shade under 20 minutes a night. He struggled a bit efficiency-wise (46.7/26.2/69.6), but impressive athletic traits and size (6-6, 6-11 wingspan) are eye-catching enough to merit an early spot on the Jazz.
Now, with 19 players on the roster, Langford will likely compete for a two-way spot with existing guys like G Johnny Juzang, C Micah Potter, and F Joey Hauser to work his way into a guaranteed contract. However, an impressive pre-season could secure even more opportunity to land on the official 15.
With just under two months remaining until the Jazz season opener, how this team finalizes will be an entertaining storyline for fans to keep track of.
