Chris Paul’s Looming Suns Release Leads to Interesting Proposal for Jazz

In this story:
The idea in itself may seem a bit out there, and maybe even too unrealistic to fathom. Chris Paul to the Utah Jazz could just be a fairy tale pipe dream, but it’s at least worth analyzing if there’s any chance of it actually happening.
On paper, the fit seems fantastic. Adding a veteran, playmaking guard to run the offense to this young group of players could easily be the next step in maximizing this team’s potential. We’ve seen how CP3 can elevate players around him, especially young guys in his short stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder a few years back. Duplicating this output in Utah would be extremely interesting to watch unfold.
Future Jazz man?

Would you want CP3 on a one-year rental? https://t.co/wjxew4zDnB pic.twitter.com/DQWYZH3T3g
While the idea from the Jazz’s perspective could be a great mindset, the realism behind this coming to form is slim. It’s clear Chris Paul has seen a decline in the player he’s been in previous years, so the clock on how much time he has to get his long desired championship is ticking faster.
Spending valuable years of his career essentially coaching up a rebuilding Jazz team rather than competing in a city like Los Angeles, or even back in Phoenix, probably isn’t on Paul’s mind at the moment. Yes, an addition of Paul could easily get this team into the playoffs, but the offer still holds less appeal than some competitors.
Now, if the Jazz make a massive move (or two) this offseason to vault this team back into a contender, maybe Paul takes a second look. Utah would likely have to give him a bit more money with the other opportunities available, but the open cap the team currently owns this offseason helps afford Chris.
Would Chris Paul likely rather play in Los Angeles alongside his close friend, LeBron James? Most likely. Would he rather continue to restructure his contract and play alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant? Again, most likely.
It’s fun to dream though, and bringing CP3 to the Jazz on a one-year rental could accelerate this team’s rebuild for little to no risk.
