On Wednesday, the Utah Jazz announced their first preseason game this year will be against the Los Angeles Clippers in Oahu, with the proceeds going to the Maui Strong funds to benefit wildfire relief.

“In joining with the Clippers in Hawai’i, we are proud to work alongside the Hawai’i Tourism Authority in support of its residents and provide continued visibility of ongoing relief efforts,” the Jazz announced. “The Utah Jazz prioritize community stewardship as a core value and are focused on showing the greatest care and concern for the victims of the devastating Maui wildfires. We are proud to partner with the Clippers on this trip that will be so much bigger than basketball.”

It’s good to see the Jazz are stepping up to the plate for a great cause. Jazz owner Ryan Smith also tweeted his thoughts on the Jazz and Clippers fundraiser on Wednesday.

“Really cool to see this. Very proud of the people at Utah Jazz and L.A. Clippers for working together to make it happen,” Smith tweeted.

Following the game in Oahu, both teams will travel to Seattle to play their second preseason game on October 10. Although it’s just preseason, it will still be a much-anticipated game for Jazz fans with the questions of who will be starting up in the air.

All eyes will be on the starting backcourt for Utah. At this stage, it’s anybody’s guess who will be named the starters. Currently, the Jazz have five players who are plausible options.

Collin Sexton, Talen Horton-Tucker, Jordan Clarkson, and Keyonte George will battle it out in training camp to be named the starter at the one. Jazz fans can pencil in October 8 as the possible date of when we’ll find out.
