Without having an offseason full of any drastic changes, the Sacramento Kings might have still been ready to pounce on a major acquisition to the roster. After a season that resulted in a shocking top-3 finish in the West, the Kings had a full offseason ahead with cap space to allow for a potential notable addition in the free agency market.

Rumors began to surface of the Kings potentially adding Golden State Warriors' former DPOY Draymond Green onto the roster. It’s a free agency signing that looked to be an awkward fit in the Sacramento locker room after Green’s recent playoff history against All-Star F Domantas Sabonis. Still, it did not stop the Kings’ front office from doing their due diligence on Draymond.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM NBA Radio, Sabonis gave fans his thoughts on what would’ve been an extremely interesting decision to bring on th player dubbed his "playoff-rival” in Draymond Green:

"As a player for the team, you get inside scoops from your GMs and owners. That really never even crossed my mind until you've obviously seen it on social media. Once the move was made, we were aware of, or at least I was aware of what were the next steps of what we're trying to do...We were just trying to make the team better, and they were asking my opinion of players and stuff, and that’s all."

Considering Draymond’s previous stomping-induced ejection on Sabonis in the first-round series between the Kings and Warriors, it feels only right for the front office to give the All-Star some input on the prospects of Green potentially sharing the same locker room as him. After what seems to of been careful consideration from all parties involved, the move did not come to fruition in the end.

Despite not pulling the trigger on a Green signing, the Kings still managed to put together a positive offseason. The 5-year extension for Sabonis with key additions of Sasha Vezenkov, Chris Duarte, and Colby Jones, have set up Sacramento with some additional valuable shooting ability for a hopeful second-straight playoff appearance.

With continued stability and wise decisions in this new era of Kings basketball, Sacramento has all the tools to become a perennial contender to win the Western Conference.
