In this story:

After entering the night facing their second game without Keegan Murray and falling in two straight road games, the Sacramento Kings had some steep hurdles to overcome in their In-Season Tournament game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite the adversity, the Kings ended up taking care of business during their third game in group play, taking home a 124-111 victory over Minnesota to vault to 3-0 in the tournament. Sacramento now holds control over Group C in the West, punching their ticket to Las Vegas for a chance to win the entire event in December.

It was a three-point barrage for the Kings, as they drained 17 on the night with an extremely effective 48.6% clip from range. It was highlighted by De’Aaron Fox’s three triples cap off his 36-point outing, along with Malik Monk and Trey Lyles putting in three of their own.

The Kings took control of this one early, jumping ahead to a 20-point lead midway through the second quarter. While Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns’s combined 62 points gave Minnesota some life down the stretch, it wasn’t enough to overcome Sacramento’s offensive prowess.

It effectively ends the Timberwolves’ undefeated home record to start the season, as they now fall to 7-1 in the Target Center and 11-4 for the season. As for the Kings, they now leap to a 9-6 record on the year, trailing by only half a game to the Phoenix Suns for control of the Pacific Division in the West.

While the Kings already have their spot in Vegas locked in, they’ll continue to their final game of the In-Season Tournament to face the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday on TNT. Since falling an early two games to this squad earlier in the year, Sacramento will surely be hungry to build off this win to take down their Cali rivals.
