Fans Bash ESPN Coverage of the Kings in Primetime

Despite a victory, the Sacramento Kings were disrespected on a nationally televised broadcast in their win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night, at least according to their fans.

Throughout the ESPN broadcast of the Kings' 16-point win in LA, Sacramento fans say there was constant criticism thrown in their team's direction. On the mic for the night was former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers, someone who may have some negative bias towards the Kings.

Myers was apart of the Warriors' organization for over a decade, and only recently stepped down in May 2023. Golden State plays in the same division as Sacramento, so the former GM is very familiar with the Kings' organization. For some, this sense of rivalry between Myers and the Kings led to an unenjoyable broadcast filled with biased opinions.

Even though the Kings led for the majority of the game and handed the Clippers back-to-back losses for the first time in 3 months, the broadcast team still questioned Sacramento's ability. Some questioned the decision to put Bob Myers on the Kings game and Mark Jones (who is usually the head analyst for the Kings) on the Warriors game, as switching the two would make much more sense.

Myers certainly has reason to be annoyed with Kings fans, as there's been plenty of heckling situations caused by the Sacramento loyal. Most famously, a video of a Kings fan ringing a cowbell right next to Myers' ears during a game.

The next time the Kings will be on an ESPN broadcast is March 13th, when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at home. While the broadcast team for that game hasn't been revealed, one would imagine they remove Myers after a poorly-called game from him on Sunday night.
