Looking ahead to the 2023-24 NBA season, the Sacramento Kings have had expectations raised accordingly from last year’s 48-win season. After finishing third in the Western Conference a year prior, fans now want to see even more success from this exciting up-and-coming core.

Returning with the pairing of All-NBA G De’Aaron Fox and C Domantas Sabonis for their second season together, increased continuity and experience will be a key factor in the development of this team. With a complete season under head coach Mike Brown and his system, this squad will look to keep building their momentum to stay atop the West.

As for former Kings F Matt Barnes, he had some words of encouragement for Sacramento on SacTown Sports 1140 with high hopes to see some steps forward:

Improvement in every area. I think, obviously, they didn’t go out and do a ton in free agency because they know they have a great core, and another year of experience is going to pay dividends. That series against the Warriors, although they lost, is going to help this team in the long run so much...Over 50 wins would be great, but it all comes down to the playoffs; the West is loaded, so I would love them to make a run to the Western Finals. I think they’re talented enough, Mike Brown’s a great coach, and I know everyone’s excited to see what this season brings."

One of the biggest concerns with this Kings team a season ago was their lack of experience. Now, having undergone their seven-game series with the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento is battle-tested and fully prepared to take on what the playoffs have to offer.

Possessing a young core whose stock continues to rise, the future in Sacramento looks as bright as ever. If the Kings can keep building from last season's production into this one, it will be a scary sight for the rest of the NBA.
