In this story:

On Sunday, USC freshman Bronny James made his long-awaited return to the floor after suffering a cardiac arrest in July that sidelined him for a chunk of time. Now fully recovered, he is finally able to join the 5-3 Trojans to kick off his first college season.

It's been one game, but NBA teams have already started to keep their eye on the son of future Hall of Famer LeBron James and his potential as a league player. The spotlight has remained on Bronny ever since he was able to pick up a basketball, and this season will be the first chance for him to prove his case of having what it takes to make the jump into the association.

According to Cameron Salerno of CBS Sports, the Sacramento Kings were one of five teams in attendance for Sunday’s game between USC and Long State. Other franchises like the Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, and San Antonio Spurs were also a part of the NBA scouts making an appearance.

James came off the bench in his first game which he posted four points, accompanied by three rebounds and two assists en route to USC’s 79-84 loss vs. Long Beach State. His day was highlighted by an exciting block in transition that was reminiscent of his father’s back in 2016.

Potential lottery selection Isaiah Collier was also a key focus of many scouts during this game, seen by many through the early pre-draft process as a future top-five pick. In this matchup, he put up 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Alongside the many NBA scouts in attendance, we also saw none other than LeBron, who’s less than 24 hours removed from a thrilling In-Season Championship win over the Indiana Pacers.

For the 2024 NBA Draft cycle, the Kings don’t exactly have the most flexibility when considering their lack of a first-round pick on tap. So, while the likes of Collier (and maybe even Bronny) may end up out of reach for Sacramento come draft night, keeping note of all possibilities is always a wise decision.

USC’s next matchup comes next Sunday, December 17th, when Bronny, Collier, and the rest of the Trojans travel to Auburn to face the Tigers.
