Report: Zach LaVine Would ‘Welcome’ a Trade To Kings Amid Rumors

The story surrounding a potential trade sending Chicago Bulls G Zach LaVine to what would be the third franchise of his NBA career has been a hot topic around the league across the past few days. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that both sides have begun increasingly open to the idea of a deal, accelerating the process on a move that seemed like the writing was on the wall for.

Developing: NBA teams are probing the availability of Bulls two-time All-Star Zach LaVine and there is increased openness from both sides about exploring a trade, sources say.

When seeking out potential candidates to take on LaVine, the race is wide open right now. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers have been mentioned as ideal suitors, but with talks being so early, that list has a great chance to expand.

A team to keep on the radar may be the Sacramento Kings, as Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reports that LaVine would "welcome" a trade to upstate California to join forces with G De’Aaron Fox and C Domantas Sabonis.

"There are several other contending situations LaVine would welcome joining, sources said, one being Sacramento. The Kings signed LaVine to an offer sheet during his restricted free agency in 2018, albeit before this present front office regime took the reins in Northern California."

LaVine is on the second year of a massive $215 million extension that spans until the 2027 season. That amount of financial capital invested makes a potential deal a bit harder to hammer the logistics down, especially in the middle of the season when teams are faced with more cap limitations.

While we have no word of the Kings’ likeness to making a move on LaVine’s situation, LaVine’s lingering interest at least presents an intriguing idea of Sacramento being the one to facilitate the 2x All-Star out of Chicago.
