This NBA offseason saw some players get substantial extensions, from Boston Celtics star G Jaylen Brown's $304 million supermax to Sacramento Kings' All-Star C Domantas Sabonis' $217 million contract restructure and extension.

While there undoubtedly were a ton of big money moves made this offseason, there also was a recent article by Hoops Hype that highlighted some of the league's most overpaid players throughout its history - and there is a King on the list.

Kings F Harrison Barnes signed a new 3-year deal worth $54 million this offseason, which came as a surprise to some fans and caused mixed reactions around Sacramento. The Kings made a draft day deal to ship off their first-round pick as well as C Richaun Holmes to the Dallas Mavericks for the ability to use their traded player exception, essentially giving the Mavericks the pick to take on Holmes' very large contract that was going to waste as he fell out of the Kings rotation completely.

From the outside, this move looked like it was to free up cap space - which it did - but it was highly believed that the Kings would use this newfound cap space to lure a high-profile free agent to Golden 1 Center. However, this money was used for Sabonis' extension and the new contract of Harrison Barnes, which a number of fans claimed was overpaid.

And Hoops Hype agrees with those fans, listing Harrison Barnes as one of the most overpaid NBA players of all time. During Barnes' 11 seasons, he has a career earnings of over $166 million, however, he supposedly was only worth $101 million during that time, leading to a $65 million overpay. After the next three seasons, Barnes will have career earnings of over $220 million.

While it may seem like an overpay, it's still hard to truly understand the constantly growing amount of money players are eligible to make year after year. While HB may be listed as one of the league's most overpaid players, his deal was significantly cheaper than many other deals that happened this offseason for the same position - and HB helped the Kings make the playoffs. Kings GM Monte McNair clearly has a plan - and running it back with a record-breaking team is never a poor decision.
