One Bold Trade Proposal for Kings to Acquire Zach LaVine From Bulls

In this story:
Given the recent success of the Sacramento Kings, many have been urging the franchise to add a third star to an already successful pairing of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. Holding onto control of most of their future draft capital with a few valuable players on the roster makes Sacramento an interesting candidate to suit any star hitting the trade market.
One of those stars on the market comes from the Chicago Bulls with 2x All-Star G Zach LaVine. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that both sides have grown open to the idea of parting ways via trade, which puts the Kings in a position to act.
With the opportunity ahead of them, here’s a trade proposal we could see for Sacramento to make the acquisition:
Sacramento Kings acquire: Zach LaVine
Chicago Bulls acquire: Harrison Barnes, Malik Monk, Davion Mitchell, 2029 first-round pick (top-5 protected)
In this move, the Kings move off the expiring contract of Monk, along with other key rotational players in Barnes and Mitchell to bring in LaVine. A hypothetical deal would likely also include some draft compensation, so a distant first-rounder with little protection makes it low enough risk for Sacramento to act on the deal.
Considering how much money is wrapped up in a player like LaVine, it effectively makes what he’s worth a bit foggier. We saw over this past NBA offseason how someone’s steep contract can affect trade value with Bradley Beal, and the same could happen with this situation.
LaVine is due $40+ million annually for at least the next three seasons, with a player option in the summer of 2027. Any team bringing him on would be tied into a substantial financial commitment for a player who isn’t quite a top-25 player, which may skew the potential return Chicago can net.
However, a package with three rotational pieces and a first-rounder might just be enough to secure the former UCLA Bruin to play upstate. Pairing LaVine with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis could be the perfect addition to an already electric offensive unit.
