Knicks Star Snubbed From Team USA
The New York Knicks won't have their star point guard represent them in the Olympics.
Team USA is gearing up for a run in this summer's Paris Olympics, but they'll be doing so without New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, who was a key figure for the team last summer at the FIBA World Cup in Asia.
Brunson and Team USA finished fourth in the competition, which prompted some higher-profile American stars to commit to the Olympics to put the country back on top in the basketball world.
Team USA revealed its roster, which consists of LeBron James and Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Kevin Durant and Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers).
But with the playoffs on the horizon, Brunson doesn't appear to fazed by the news of his exclusion from the final roster.
"I was just focused on playoffs, I didn't even look at the list," Brunson told reporters.
While Knicks fans may be disappointed that Brunson won't be on the Team USA roster after his best professional season to date, they may be happy with the fact that he seems locked in to the playoff run.
Brunson has had a career year making his first All-Star team and finishing fourth in scoring with 28.7 points per game, and now he'll have his total focus on the Knicks as they look to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in 25 years.
