Liberty Love Story! Sabrina Ionescu Marries NFL Blocker Hroniss Grasu

Sabrina Ionescu inked a lifetime contract with current Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu.

Sabrina Ionescu has donned what she and the New York Liberty hope is the first of several rings this year.

The seafoam star wed longtime beau and NFL offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu in a star-studded in Southern California over the weekend. Among those in attendance were Liberty teammate Breanna Stewart, former NBA stars and Ionescu's hardwood mentors Pau Gasol and Steve Nash, Ionescu's collegiate teammate and WNBA All-Star Satou Sabally, as well as Natalia and Vanessa Bryant, the respective daughter and wife of the late Kobe Bryant, with whom Ionescu formed a close friendship.

With Ionescu and Grasu, who currently reps the Las Vegas Raiders, forming their relationship at the University of Oregon, the reception came full circle with an appearance from The Oregon Duck, the Eugene establishment's mascot who was there along with the couple's close friend and 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota (who recently signed with the Washington Commanders).

Ionescu commemorated the occasion in an Instagram post, which featured well-wishes from past and present Liberty teammates such as Rebecca Allen, Michaela Onyenwere, DiDi Richards, and Nyara Sabally.

"March 10, 2024: the day I got to marry my best friend, my other half," Ionescu wrote. "The best day of my life. I love you, always and forever."

Ionescu is fresh off her fourth professional season in New York, one that saw her pace the W in successful three-point field goal attempts at 128, setting a new record. She earned her second WNBA All-Star Game invite as well as second-team All-WNBA honors en route to both a victorious Commissioner's Cup bid and the Liberty's first WNBA Finals appearance in over two decades.

The 26-year-old's deep-ball prowess made national headlines last month when she faced Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry in a long-distance shootout during the NBA's All-Star Weekend festivities in Indianapolis. While Ionescu fell to Curry by a narrow margin, the event received mostly positive reviews and was labeled the highlight of the annual festivities by several critics and analysts.

The 2024 New York Liberty season opens on May 15 against the Washington Mystics.
