'Delete My Number!' Knicks' Josh Hart Tweet Disgusts Jalen Brunson

Jalen Brunson humorously vowed to cut off all contact with his Villanova Wildcats and New York Knicks teammate Josh Hart after a post on Twitter.

Call it a virtual (Wild)cat fight.

A Twitter exchange has created a humorous rift in the relationship between New York Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, one that caused the former to demand a cessation of phone contact. Hart presented a unique trial of being a new parent on Twitter on Tuesday night, asking his followers if any of them "ever tasted (their) significant other's breast milk." The trade deadline arrival claimed he was "asking for a friend" but the implication is quite clear.

Among the many left bewildered by Hart's query is Brunson, his close friend and teammate at both Madison Square Garden and Villanova University, who told the former Portland Trail Blazer that he never had such an experience and to "delete (his) number)."

Brunson later posted a video of him unfollowing Hart and encouraged others to do so on his Instagram story. Hart, aware it's in apparent good fun, said in his own story that he was "buggin" over the idea of losing followers because of his curiosity.

It's easy to understand why such a conundrum would arise in the Hart household: Hart and his wife Shannon welcomed a pair of twin boys earlier this month, shortly before his Knicks battled the Miami Heat in the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals.

Hart's experience made its rounds across professional sports' social media landscape, many mirroring Brunson's thoughts. A common reaction has been viewers showing Hart a viral, humorous moment from his time with the New Orleans Pelicans: during an October 2019 game against the Houston Rockets, Hart looked on with a mix of amusement and bewilderment after Harden, then a Houston star frustrated over a lack of a foul call, slammed the ball down on the hardwood, hitting his own face in the process.

ESPN host and Knicks fan/critic Stephen A. Smith "need(ed) a few hours to process" what he had heard but Hart did find a sympathizer in Smith's Worldwide Leader colleague Dan Orlovsky, who said he was "100%" familiar with the feeling. He assured former Portland teammate CJ McCollum it was "better than almond milk" while he assured Sacramento Kings All-Star De'Aaron Fox that every "every new dad (has) wondered" about such a concept.

Knicks fans will likely hope that this doesn't sour Hart's thoughts on collaborating with Brunson again: their team certainly took things to another level when Hart arrived from the Pacific Northwest, as he averaged 10.2 points and seven rebounds in 25 regular season appearances. Those efforts helped the Knicks earn the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and reach their best win total (47) in a decade.
