BREAKING: Knicks Trade For Josh Hart, Send Cam Reddish to Portland

The New York Knicks are slowly resembling the Villanova Wildcats after a reported trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The New York Knicks are getting a Hart just in time for Valentine's Day.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers have completed a trade that will send Hart back East to Manhattan. Cam Reddish goes to Portland in the deal, as does a protected first-round pick.

The Knicks are also sending Ryan Arcidiacono and Svi Mykhailuk to the Blazers.

Hart, set to turn 28 in March, is a former collegiate teammate of current Knicks franchise face Jalen Brunson at Villanova University. The trio united to win the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball title together before Hart became a first-round pick in the 2017 draft, beginning his career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was later dealt to New Orleans in the July 2019 trade that sent Anthony Davis to Southern California.

Hart arrived in Portland last February through another trade. This season has seen him find his true rebounding potential, as he's hauling in a career-best 8.2 and has tied another personal high at a .504 success rate from the field.

Thus ends Reddish's cursed tenure in New York, one that unofficially came to an end during the holiday season: despite briefly taking over the Knicks' primary shooting guard spot, he had not appeared in a game since Dec. 3, failing to generate any momentum after coming over from Atlanta in a trade from last January. That deal saw the Knicks and Hawks swap struggling first round choices.

In 35 games as a Knick, Reddish averaged 7.4 points and 1.5 rebounds. His finest New York minute came in the Knicks' opening night tilt in Memphis, which saw Reddish sink an overtime-forcing three-pointer in an eventual loss to the Grizzlies.

Ironically enough, the Knicks' first game after upping their Villanova representation comes at Arcidiacono, Brunson, and Hart's shared former stomping grounds, as the Knicks (30-26) will face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at Wells Fargo Center (7 p.m. ET, MSG). Brunson and several Knicks were taking in the Thursday game on the Villanova campus, where the point guard's jersey was honored during the Wildcats' Big East showdown with DePaul.
