With love from Queens, tennis player Frances Tiafoe paid his respects to Manhattan.

Tiafoe, second amongst Americans on the current Association of Tennis Professionals' rankings (10th overall) prepped for third-round play at the US Open on Thursday by donning a New York Knicks jersey, namely the "Statement" edition No. 5 worn by Immanuel Quickley.

Tiafoe, 25, is looking for his first Grand Slam victory in Queens. He reached the third round with a 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Sebastian Ofner on Wednesday and is set to face 22nd-ranked Adrian Mannarino in France. Tiafoe earned his best career Slam finish in last year's visit to Queens, reaching the semifinal round before falling to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Seeing Tiafoe don Quickley's jersey isn't too much of a surprise considering the fact that both are Maryland natives. No. 5 could either be a popular wardrobe choice for Knicks fans of the present and future or a relic soon enough.

Quickley's future has been one of the biggest unchecked tasks on the Knicks' long-term to-do list as he's set to enter the fourth and final year of his rookie contract. The third year was his finest yet, as the reserve point guard averaged a career-best 14.9 points en route to a runner-up finish in last season's Sixth Man of the Year vote.

Tiafoe and Quickley previously met face-to-face in December, when the former took in the Knicks' 113-89 win over Atlanta at Madison Square Garden. Despite praising the MSG atmosphere and support, Taifoe maintained loyalty to his local Washington Wizards.

Tiafoe's loyalty will be tested early in the year: the first of three meetings between the Knicks and Wizards during the upcoming 2023-24 season will be staged on Nov. 17 and will be part of the NBA's first-ever In-Season Tournament's group stage.
