Lakers News: All-Star Legend Considered LA's MVP This Year

The Los Angeles Lakers have clinched a spot in the Play-In Tournament and will take on the New Orleans Pelicans in the 7/8 game.

The team clinched the 8th seed but will have the chance to finish as the 7th seed if they can defeat the Pelicans on Tuesday. Despite relatively healthy seasons from LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Los Angeles still has struggled to maintain any form of consistency this season.

But the play of James has been incredible this season, even in year 21 in the NBA. James has been so good for this Lakers' team that he is seen as the MVP of the team, even at age 39. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report listed each team's MVP from the year, with James taking home the honor.

"Plus, how do we deny James a team MVP when he's on track to hit over 41.0 percent of his threes for the first time ever and somehow improved across the board in his 21st season? No one should ever normalize 25.4 points, 8.1 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game in an age-39 campaign."

What James has done this season is nothing short of spectacular. Nobody should be able to do what he has done this far into his career, further pushing the narrative of him being the Greatest of All Time.

Davis has been special himself, but James is on another level. Both players have helped keep the Lakers afloat and nobody in the Western Conference wants to see them come playoff time.

"This award absolutely could have gone to Anthony Davis, who's been exceptionally durable all year and is about to become the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to average at least 24.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 blocks with a true shooting percentage north of 60.0 percent."

This team remains very confident in themselves, even with their low seeding. They believe they can go on another deep playoff run, no matter who they face along the way. Los Angeles was the 7th seed last year and made a run to the Western Conference Finals so look for them to attempt to do that again.
