Lakers News: D'Angelo Russell Loves Young Reserve's Versatility

He should be able to earn significant minutes this season!

Second-year Los Angeles Lakers wing Max Christie all but has earned a spot in LA's rotation for this coming season. He put on a show during the NBA Summer League this year, and his production has continued throughout the offseason.

He has impressed multiple members of the Lakers so far in camp, and in his preseason play. It has been great to see, and if Christie can continue this, he will earn significant minutes in the rotation all year.

Veteran point guard D'Angelo Russell is one of the players who has caught Christie fever, and he spoke about what he brings to the table.

“He’s versatile as well. He can guard a lot of positions; he can score multiple different ways. Just keeping him active. I think like you said with a guy like that, young guy, being around a bunch of stars, a few veterans, trying to be energy ya know wherever that may be. If it’s deflections, loose balls, whatever it may be, finding a way to be on the floor because of the energy. It doesn’t go unnoticed.”

The length of Christie allows him to play his spots much easier, and his strong defensive instincts have seen him take on some of the more challenging roles on the team. He does all the little things right, and that is exactly what is needed on this Lakers team

Christie is primed for a breakout season this year, and he has the support of the entire Lakers team. He has only gotten better as time has gone on, and now he is learning daily from some of the best in the game.

Head coach Darvin Ham trusts Christie to make the correct play, and that is no small feat for a young player. It should see him get a lot of floor time this season, and we can't wait to see what he does with that opportunity.
