As the season gets going for the Lakers, big man Anthony Davis is going to be the biggest x-factor for the team. It’s been said each year that he needs to step up, but this season is where he needs to earn the money that the Lakers are paying him
Davis signed a massive extension with the team over the summer and now will be in LA for the foreseeable future. The pressure is on him this year to be consistent and stay healthy as the Lakers try to capture another title.
Lakers head coach Darvin Ham spoke on the star big man, and what he has seen entering this season so far.

Davis needs to be the best player on the floor for the Lakers each night if they want to reach their ultimate goal of winning a championship this year. His motor needs to be engaged at all times, and he needs to lead this team like he never has before.
The guys feed off his energy, and they go as he does. For the first time since he joined the Lakers, Davis has to be the face of the franchise for them to go anywhere.
“He’s the heart and soul of our team. No one likes to get eliminated, let alone swept so us losing together in that manner really lit a fire under all of our guys.”
Of course, his co-star LeBron James is still there, but he can’t take over a game like he used to due to age. And James needs help from Davis this season, which is why he has already said that Davis will be the one leading this team.
We should be in for a great year from Davis if he can stay healthy. The fate of the Lakers season depends on how he performs all season long.
