Lakers News: Insider Projects Bronny James Will Rise To 2024 Lottery

ESPN's first 2024 mock draft held a big surprise for the young prince.

Bronny James is already set to enter his next stage of basketball following high school with as much pressure as any top recruit we've seen in recent years. Being the eldest son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James means his development and performance will always draw comparisons to those of his father at that age.

Up until now, Bronny has always handled the spotlight very well and always just focused on improving as a basketball player. Choosing to attend Sierra Canyon High School, he found himself playing with and against some of the best competition in the nation. The young combo guard has participated in the Open division of the CIF playoffs every season and has wrote his own story on the court.

Bronny has already been recognized for his elite play this year when he was named to the McDonald's All-American roster in January. That praise has continued as ESPN's Jonathan Givony released his first 2024 mock draft and the 18-year-old is slated to be drafted number ten by the Orlando Magic.

"Bronny James is now a projected top-10 pick thanks to the significant jump he's made at Sierra Canyon," said Givony. "Developing into arguably the best perimeter defender in his class while making strides with his shooting and playmaking."

Some of the league's most sought-after players at the moment are those that fall under the category of "3 and D" meaning that they can knock down open three's while also clamping the best players on the other team. It seems as though Bronny has been paying close attention to this trend and modeled his game after it.

As of now, it has been reported that Oregon, USC, and Ohio State are the top three college options for Bronny and he will make his decision once his senior season is over. The 6'3 marksman has not confirmed that he will be a one and done player but with this first mock draft predicting that he'll land in the lottery, it does seem likely.

Everybody is waiting to see how Bronny's path to the NBA shapes up in hopes that he will team up with his father. LeBron has already explicitly stated that is his goal for at least one season, and noted that he pays close attention to what teams will have draft picks in 2024.

However, the 4-time champion has another son that plays along with Bronny at Sierra Canyon and his name is Bryce. Despite only being a sophomore, the younger son is already listed at 6'6 and believed to have serious potential. It would be quite interesting to see if LeBron holds on a few extra years to try and play with both of his sons.
