Lakers News: LA Brings In Highly Regarded Big Ten Prospect For Pre-Draft Workout

In this story:

The Lakers are continuing to do their homework on prospects ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft that will take place on June 22.

The team brought in a contingent on Thursday that included six players, including a Big Ten alumnus, and they also welcomed in another prospect that played in the same conference to their facility -- a player with significant accolades that could very well be in play for them early on their draft night.

The player? Ohio State forward Brice Sensabaugh.

Sensabaugh was one of the few bright spots for the Buckeyes this past season, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors in his lone season, and the honorable mention distinction more likely being a product of Ohio State's disappointing performance, rather than his individual play.

The 6'6," 235 pound Sensabaugh put up 16.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in his freshman campaign, and established himself as one of the better pure scorers in the country.

Sensabaugh possesses an advanced mid-range game and was able to create his own shot. He shot 48 percent from the field and an extremely high 41 percent from deep.

His three-point shot alone makes him an attractive option for the Lakers, as they've been in need of a consistent deep threat to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

In Sensabaugh, they would definitely have that.

More importantly, he could be in play for the franchise if they were to keep their No. 17 pick -- The Ringer's John Hollinger has him going No. 26 in his latest mock draft.

His defense left a little to be desired, but his advanced offensive arsenal could be enough for the team to select him on draft night if they have the opportunity.

Also, the Lakers tweeted about Sensabaugh working out with them -- before deleting it in a rather curious development.

Could that mean something?

It's difficult to know for sure but regardless, Laker fans should definitely keep their eye on Sensabaugh when draft night -- now less than two weeks away -- rolls around.
