Lakers Fans Have High Hopes For This New-Look Team

LA has gone 8-3 since an eventful trade deadline.

Your Los Angeles Lakers are on a roll. LA captured its third consecutive win last night over the Toronto Raptors, 122-112, and are inching closer to possibly avoiding Western Conference the play-in tournament altogether.

They aren't out of the woods just yet, but this Lakers team is a lot better than their record shows, and fans realize that.

After last night's win, our Twitter page asked Laker fans what they believe the Lakers' ceiling is for the remainder of the season.

One thing's for sure: Laker fans are very confident this team can make a deep playoff run.

Over 56 percent of the voters believe the Lakers' ceiling is the NBA Finals, while the win playoff series option is second with 18 percent of the vote. The Western Conference Finals is third with 16.8 percent, and coming in last is losing in the first round/play-in.

As of Saturday, the Lakers have 15 games remaining and have put themselves in a great position to climb out of the play-in tournament. The good news is they are only 1.5 games back from the 5th seed, but the bad news is they aren't too far from the 13th seed, being two games ahead.

There is no room for slippage for the Purple and Gold, and they are certainly playing like it. This Lakers' team is nothing like what we knew of it over a month ago; they have depth and can sustain a loss as they suffered with LeBron James.

It all depends on where LA can land after these remaining 15 games in the regular season. If they can become a top-six team in the West and James can come back before the regular season ends, look out of the purple and gold.

I don't want to say anything definitive right now, but I will say a healthy Lakers team will be a tough out in the West.

One question I'll pose is, what team in the West can beat the Lakers in a seven-game series? Because that list is a lot shorter than the teams who can't beat them.
