Lakers Injury Report: Anthony Davis Hip Status Updated For Suns Game

In this story:

After missing LA's 128-94 drubbing at the hands of the Houston Rockets Wednesday, Los Angeles Lakers star big man Anthony Davis has seen his status upgraded to probable to play tonight against the Phoenix Suns in what will be the team's first game of the in-season tournament.

NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic was first with the news:

Getting Davis back for this game will be huge for the Lakers, as the Suns pose a real threat offensively. Suns guard Devin Booker will not play in the game, but Phoenix still has its two-headed monster of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.

Davis at least will provide the Lakers with a true threat defensively, and the Suns aren’t the biggest team either. So, LA should have the advantage within the painted area tonight, assuming Davis does suit up.

In the first meeting against the Suns earlier in the season, Davis dominated the Suns across the board. He put up 30 points and 12 rebounds in helping the Lakers grab the victory. Davis also added three blocks within the game as well.

The Lakers enter this game on a three-game losing streak, so they desperately need a win to stop the bleeding. LA has been dealing with a plethora of injuries the entire season so far, and it has caught up to them within their recent games. But getting Davis back is good news, especially since LA was blown out last game against the Houston Rockets without him.

If the Lakers want to grab the win tonight, they will need to make sure that defense is their priority. The Suns thrive on their offensive attack, and if the Lakers can slow Phoenix down even a little, they could be in good shape.

LA will need their role players to step up in this one, and rebounding will be a key here as well. This is another reason why Davis likely playing gives an advantage to the Lakers.
