Lakers LeBron James Reveals the Most Frustrating Thing About NBA Playcalling

LeBron James spoke on his podcast about an element of playcalling he wishes would continue to happen.

LeBron James and JJ Redick have a new podcast out, where both speak candidly about the game of basketball. In the first episode, James goes into detail about how the team came back big against the Clippers, and the play that helped that.

"Coach drew up a play. The first play I believe he drew up is "Horns Chest." And they [Clippers] f***** up on the Horns Chest. So, we ran it again. And that's another thing that bothers me about the NBA, too. Why do we not continue to run the same thing over and over until they stop it." Guys will run a play one time, then they'll score, and they change the play."

James reveals that the Lakers were able to come back on the Clippers based on what started in the fourth period. They ran Horns Chest and ran it again. However, head coach Darvin Ham moved on after that.

James then questions why no coach is more inclined to want to run the same play repeatedly until a team figures it out. Honestly, it's not a bad strategy.

NFL coaches will often run similar plays and attack a weaker side of the field should the secondary of the team be weak to deep balls.

The NBA is no different. If an opponent is dropping the ball on covering a play call, then why not run that same play? James sees the opportunity to score multiple times, but it's not the status quo of most coaches in basketball.

James and Redick have created an entertaining podcast that goes deep into the game of basketball, and the full episode can be viewed below:
