Your Los Angeles Lakers are hanging on ever so tightly to a play-in spot. Things haven't been easy for the purple and gold as their superstar LeBron James continues to miss games due to a right foot injury. He's feeling better day by day but will miss the next handful of games, at best.

In the meantime, the Lakers' other superstar Anthony Davis is doing the best he can to keep LA afloat and remain in the playoff picture.

AD is a monster when he chooses to be, and now is a better time than any to get the best version of Davis on the court. Lakers insider Dave McMenamin spoke with the 8-time All-Star and said how he's been handling things with James out of the lineup.

"I think any time you are playing with another star anywhere and that guy goes out, as much as you try and isolate and not put much pressure on yourself, everybody's looking for you to fill those shoes or at least half those shoes and the team fill up the other half," Davis said. "So for me, knowing that he was going to be off work in an extended period of time and everyone's looking at me like, 'OK AD, we need you to carry us until we are able to get whole again now.'"

Everyone knows what the duo of James and Davis can accomplish together when healthy. Unfortunately for Laker fans, that hasn't been a consistent thing in the past two seasons.

Still, that's the beauty of having another star player on your team. Anthony spent his first seven seasons in New Orleans, and for most of his time there, he was the only star player, so he should be used to this. It's different this time, as the Lakers have surrounded him with players who complement his game well and play defense at a high level.

This is why the 2012 number one overall pick was brought to LA, to play like a superstar on the biggest and brightest stage in the NBA. More often than not, Davis plays like one of the best players in the league; however, that must be a common thread. With or without James, Davis' presence must be felt at all times for the Lakers to make the playoffs and make a deep run.

So far, the 30-year-old has been doing work and must continue if they want to get out of the play-in picture. We'll see how he responds in these last eight games.
