Lakers News: Christian Wood Opens Up About Past Defensive Struggles

All he needs to do is buy in this season.

Lakers big man Christian Wood comes over to LA with some big questions on his shoulders. He is an immensely talented player who has proven that he can put the ball in the basket, but his defense has been a work in progress over his career.

He isn’t coming to the Lakers to be a defensive star, but if he can buy into their system, it would help him greatly. He has one of the best defensive players in the league in Anthony Davis alongside him now, so that could help his overall game.

Wood knows that he needs to come in to rebound and block shots when possible, and if he can do that he will see the floor consistently. He opened up about his defensive struggles over the years and wants to do whatever he can to help the Lakers win this season.

The veteran big man brings a different element to the table for this Lakers team, due to his ability to step outside and knock down threes. He is a highly efficient three-point shooter, and he will likely get a ton of good looks over the course of the season.

The other biggest issue that teams have seen from him has been his effort level at times. It has been questioned by people, but Wood wants to prove everyone wrong. He chose the Lakers in free agency because he wanted a chance to prove himself.

If he can succeed with Davis and LeBron James, he could boost his value around the league, and possibly win a championship in the process. This season will be very critical for his career, and he knows how important it is.

Hopefully, we see a motivated player with a chip on his shoulder who will do whatever the team needs from him to impact winning games.
