Lakers News: D'Angelo Russell Credits This For His Sacramento Scoring Punch

A wholesale effort for LA.

Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell showed his scoring prowess in the team's most recent preseason game against the Kings and had plenty to say in his postgame media availability.

LA's former no. 2 draft pick returned to the purple and gold on a new two-year deal and credited his exhibition showing to the entire team's overall chemistry.

Russell's playoff showing in 2023 left him on the bench in the last games of the season, but the former Buckeye is eager to show his skills early into the 2024 campaign.

The shifty guard finished as the leading scorer against the Kings on Wednesday night after filling in 21 points on an efficient 8/12 from the field.

LA took the victory against an upstart Sacramento squad and both teams should challenge for playoff spots in what's shaping up to be a tough Western Conference.

Defense and overall consistency remained issues for Russell in May, but the guard is determined to be a team player in the ramp-up for another season of Laker basketball.

Passing and three-point shooting remain strengths for the ice-cold Russell, but fans haven't seen his iconic celebrations in the biggest moments nearly often enough.

Chemistry is important to any team and last season's inspired run to the Western Conference showed Rob Pelinka the importance of such on his roster.

The Laker GM swapped out Russell Westbrook for Russell and other pieces at the trade deadline and got rewarded after two series wins from an earlier play-in position.

It'll be up to Russell to now reward that faith on the biggest stages as this most recent showing and faith in his teammates will go a long way in that regard.
